Passengers are to make their own way to the meeting spot at Sinouk Coffee House at 9:30am in central Pakse (corner of Number 9 and Number 11 Roads) on the day of departure.
Wat Phou Mekong Cruise
Starting and finishing in Pakse, this luxurious cruise sails through spectacular scenery along the majestic Mekong River allowing guests to gain an excellent insight into rural Lao life whilst also visiting the special, UNESCO World Heritage listed Wat Phou temple, the atmospheric, hidden forest temple of Oum Muong, the beautiful archipelago of the 4000 Islands and it's many waterways as well as the tumultuous and spiritual waterfall of Pha Pheng on the Laos/Cambodian border before heading back to Pakse.
The Wat Phou Boat is a floating hotel designed with style and comfort in mind. The 12 private, air conditioned cabins, each with an ensuite come with a window and twin beds. The boat has 2 large shaded air decks, a restaurant and bar.
The Wat Phou Mekong Cruise is a 3 day / 2 night journey that both starts and finishes in Pakse. There are two cruise options depending on your preference of either cruising down stream or up stream. Both cruises visit the same attractions and have the same inclusions. Both cruise itineraries have a one way trip by bus either from the 4,000 Islands back to Pakse, or from Pakse down to the 4,000 Islands to begin the cruise.
CRUISE DOWN RIVER
Day 1: Pakse / Champassak / Wat Phou
Meet guide at Sinouk Coffee House in Pakse at 9:30am and transfer to a longtail riverboat for a 2.5 hour journey to Champasak.
Arrive at the Wat Phou Boat and check into your cabin to unpack before being served lunch on deck.
In the afternoon visit the historical and UNESCO World Heritage Listed Wat Phou Temple where you have time to explore the temple in depth as well as visit the museum at the site entrance.
Return to the Wat Phou Boat at dusk to enjoy sunset on the deck followed by dinner.
The boat docks for the night at a remote Lao village.
Day 2: Huei Thamo / Oum Muong Temple / Khong Island
Enjoy breakfast on board as the boat departs for Huei Thamo Village.
Huei Thamo Village is a small, picturesque village a short walk from the forest hidden, atmospheric Oum Muong temple.
Return to the boat and continue cruising down the Mekong passing beautiful scenery.
Lunch is served on board as the cruise gently approaches intricate archipelago of the 4,000 Islands (Si Pan Don).
In the afternoon, disembark and discover the traditional, small Lao village of Ban Deua Tia by foot where you gain a great insight into Lao life, culture and history.
The cruise finishes the day at the north of the largest inhabited island; Don Khong where guests can explore or relax in the free time after dinner on board.
Day 3: Don Khone / Pha Pheng Waterfall / Pakse
As you enjoy breakfast on board, the Wat Phou boat departs from it's port at Don Khong and cruises to the small village of Ban Veuthong. Here you will be transferred to a smaller boat enabling a deeper exploration of the 4,000 Islands and it's waterways to Khone Island.
Visit the old French railway and bridge connecting Khone and Det Islands.
Back on the smaller boat, cruise back to the mainland for lunch in a small fishing village called Xieng Di on the banks of the Mekong.
From here, transfer by bus to the ‘Niagara of the East'; Pha Pheng waterfall on the Lao/Cambodian border before heading back to Pakse for the end of cruise experience.
Arrive in Pakse at approximately 4:00pm.

CRUISE UP RIVER (the same tour but in reverse):
Day 1: Pakse / Pha Pheng Waterfall / Khone Island
Meet guide at Sinouk Coffee House in Pakse at 9:30am. Board bus to travel down Route 13 to Pha Pheng Waterfalls. These waterfalls, referred to as the Niagara of the East, have a significant history and borders Cambodia.
After lunch, head to Khone Island in the 4,000 Islands by small boats and visit the old French railway and bridge linking Khone and Det Islands.
Transfer on the small boats to the largest inhabited island; Khong Island where the Wat Phou Boat will be waiting for you at Ban Veuthong Village for a sunset cruise and dinner on board. The boat will dock riverside for the night.
Day 2: Khong Island / Oum Muong Temple / Huei Thamo
Enjoy breakfast on board the Wat Phou boat as it sails to the picturesque, centuries old village of Ban Deua Tia. Explore the village by food and gain an insight into traditional Lao life.
Continue your cruise north on the Mekong where lunch will be served on board.
In the afternoon the boat will dock at Huei Thamo Village which is your gateway to the mysterious Oum Muong temple, surrounded by forest.
Dinner is back on the boat where guests can enjoy the tranquillity of the quiet Mekong as the boat is docked overnight.
Day 3: Vat Phou / Champassak / Pakse
Breakfast is served on board as the boat continues its journey up to Mekong to Champasak town.
Explore the historical, UNESCO World Heritage Listed Wat Phou temple at a leisurely pace, including the museum.
Return to the boat for lunch on boat and the last segment of the cruise to Pakse.
Arrive in Pakse at approximately 4:00pm.

- The boat has 12 private cabins each sleeping a maximum of 2 people in twin beds. All cabins have a private, hot water bathroom and window allowing great views of the Mekong.
