Pick up from your hotel in Pakse, check bicycle and gear before departing for your adventure start the day driving east climbing in elevation to a local tea and coffee plantation where you can gain an insight into the industry which thrives on the fertile volcanic soil on the Bolaven Plateau. Enjoy a Lao style coffee before continuing to the famous Tad Fane waterfall with its two stunning cascades framed against the Bolaven Plateau, it drops nearly 120m, making it one of the most spectacular sights in Laos. After leaving Tad Fane continue to Tad Yuang where you can enjoy the afternoon by the waterfall and maybe swim in the cool pools.

Day 2: Paksong - Ban Mai (75km)

Cycle another 10km uphill to Paksong and follow the small paths towards Ban Mai in Attapeu Province, stopping for lunch on route and pass Tad Samongphak and Saepha waterfall which is especially breathtaking just after the rainy season when the rivers are high.

On the way enjoy a picnic lunch. On arriving at Ta Ong you can relax in the comfortable bungalow which doubles as a Homestay/Community lodge. It is approximately 100m from Ta Ong village and quite cosy with a balcony overlooking the dense Xe Pian forest. Ta Ong is an ethnic Lave village, and the villagers speak the Khmer language as well as Lao and they have their own unique and distinct culture and traditions.

Enjoy dinner with the villagers where you can try chicken soup, sticky rice or even chilli paste, don't worry though there will be some western luxuries for you if you can't handle the local cuisine. Take in the surroundings before settling in to sleep and enjoy a well deserved rest.
